My Twisted Heart

I'm done!

Well at least the top is done.
I know you can't tell from the picture but the fabric squares in this quilt are small 1 inch square...1 inch. I can't believe I did this.  I love how this turned out.  The whole quilt top is 16 inches square.

I'm not sure what to do now.

I think I want to frame it.

Now what do I do?

Do I add a thin batting? Do I quilt it?
Any tips on framing?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Enjoy you day,
Leanne

Having Fun....in a Twisted Way

I'm making my first little quilt.
I was shopping at Primitive Gatherings last fall when I fell in love with the
Primitive Gatherings My Twisted Heart.

I thought it was so cute but looked soooo difficult.
Well after talking to the gal at the counter I thought I'd give it a try and I bought the kit. That's not all I bought that day I assure you...I can't leave there without buying a bag or two of fun projects and wool and fabric and patterns, oh my!

Now that it's February I better get going. I laid out the blocks.

Sewed them together very carefully... I'm more of a beginner quilter.  I do a lot of craft sewing, wool appliqué and watched many quilt tv shows but still  I'm still a beginner.
Yes! Everything lined up almost perfectly. Look at those corners!
I added the borders and...

It doesn't look anything like the front of the pattern. Does it?

Well the next step was really hard for me to do. All my corners were perfect, it looks so good and now I'm going to cut it up.  Yes CUT IT UP!

You use this little twister tool,..itty bitty twister tool, line up the marks on the tool and cut. After the first few cuts it wasn't so hard. Really. The more I cut the more I liked it.

One bit of advise stay really focused and organized.

After all that cutting this is what you get....

A pile of little pieces and this....

My Twisted Heart.

I'm not done yet but I will show you the finished product.  Hopefully I get it done today.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

Happy Winter....

I have been taking full advantage of the cold winter to work on some cross stitch, wool projects and unfinished projects.
I started this before Christmas and just finished the cross stitch portion a couple of weeks ago. I just love the frame around Santa with the snowman, trees and houses.

The above is a pattern from Brenda Gervis of With Thy Needle and Thread.

I'm almost finished with this table topper. I just love all the scrappy pennies....it's a great way to use up all those little pieces of wool. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish the edges yet.

This is a pattern by Lynda Hall of Primitive Pieces by Lynda.

I also tried my hand at quilting. This was a kit I bought many years ago. I had everything cut and marked but that was as far as I got. So one very cold day I finished piecing and hand quilted it.  I really haven't done much quilting but I hope to do more.

Don't look to closely because some of my points are gone.
Now to bind it and I'm done.  It will be great to finish this off.

I love this penny rug!
It's a pattern from Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings.
All ready to be stitched. I'll start this tonight.

I listed a few things on eBay...

Have a great day,

Raggedy Dolls and Valentine Hearts...

Well, another cold spell....
and the best way to spend the time is by sewing.

I just wanted to share some pictures of some Annie's I made.

I love picking out the fabric for their dresses.
I'm always on the search for good yarn to use for Annie's hair.

I also have been working on Valentine penny rugs.
Stitching is a great way to keep your fingers warm on a really cold day.

The hearts in this penny rug are  made with hand dyed reds...I love the way it looks.

I have these items up for sale on ebayClick here to see all I have listed.
If you want to purchase these from me directly just email me.

Enjoy your day and stay warm,
Leanne

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Oh my goodness it is freezing outside!
Schools were closed today and will be closed tomorrow too.
I took my son to an ortho appointment today the temp in the car was -16 degrees...Brrrrr.
I have to say I wasn't cold but I wasn't out in the weather very long.

I've been working on some penny rugs.
Mittens to keep you warm.

I couldn't wait to work on a Valentine penny rug.
I will be working on more.

I just had to start something spring like...I love this little blue bird.
I stayed up way too late to finish this one.

And I always look forward to Saint Patrick's Day!

I can't believe how long its been since I posted on this blog but life got in the way.
It's been a very busy last few months. Busy in a good way and busy in a not so good way too.
I think and hope everything has settled down now. I feel it's going to be a good 2014!
My computer crashed during the holidays...bad timing...and one big headache. If this has ever happened to you, you know what a pain it is.  I lost a lot of stuff I didn't want to lose. If you tried to get a hold of me I'm sorry I didn't get back to you.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and successful New Year!
Bring on 2014!

Stay warm and enjoy your day,
Leanne

Just Wishing You All A Happy Valentine"s Day!!!

On Valentine's Day my may be showered with gifts like flowers or candy or diamonds.
I felt like a lucky girl when I received flowers and girl scout cookies...my honey sure knows me well.

I thought I would share some pictures from a vacation we took in Washington DC.
Wouldn't we all love to receive something like this...
it's the Hope Diamond.

I am always taking pictures like these to inspire me.
I love the stonework, look at the detail in this.

The ceilings are spectacular.

I can't imagine painting this ceiling.

 I love this wreath!

Wouldn't this look awesome as a boarder on a quilt.
I love the color combination.

I hope you have a good day and night with your valentines.

Happy Friday and Hello February....

I just wanted to stop in and wish you all a Happy Friday!

It's nice and sunny but freezing cold out today with temps at 5 degrees with a wind chill of -12.
Now that's cold! And that's just the daytime temps.

 So I've been busy stitching.

I thought I would share a few of the things I've been working on.

Happy February...I had to work on a few more heart projects.

It's supposed to snow a little everyday for the next few days.

I think I ready for winter to be over!

I take that back I Know I'm ready for winter to be over!
I hope you all have a happy Friday.

Valentine Hearts

I just thought I would show you what I'm working on while watching the footballs games.

Valentine penny rugs and runners.
I love how these hand dyed wool hearts look on this patterned black background.

I like the hearts on this black runner too.

We're all excited to see the Packers play today. The boys and their friends are all here.
They think we're the lucky house.
Everyone has staked out their seat. They've been sitting in front of the tv all afternoon...we're a football family.
Keep your fingers crossed that they win!
The closer the game the faster I stitch.

Go Pack Go!!!!!

Enjoy your night,
Leanne
