Hello September....

Where has the summer gone?  Time does fly by!

This quilt was made by me!  I still can't believe I made this.  I joined the Kim Diehl club at the Ye Olde Schoolhouse Quilt Shop. This quilt was a challenge!  I'm kind of new to quilting, I know how to sew but quilting is quite different. Cutting accurately all those little squares, marking, sewing a scant quarter inch seam, all those little pieces to stay organized are just a few things I learned how to do. Oh and read directions over and over again.  I am totally hooked on quilting!  I can't wait for the next class :-)

I getting ready for my craft fairs. Making a lot of wool appliqué pieces.

Scarecrows

And more wool.

First fair September 19 @10:00, Holy Hill Art and Crafts Fair in Hubertus, WI.

Now for a tip....

I like my work to have a primitive look.  Sometime when working with wool I can't get the antique looking color I like.    If the color is too bright coffee dye it!

See the difference? The piece on the right is the coffee dyed wool...the perfect color!

All Prepped and Ready to Sew....

I spent the last two days prepping some stitching and stitching.

I have my block of the month ready for stitching. These are blocks 9 and 10 of Norma Whaley's How Does Your Garden Grow. I'm running a little behind but I'm hoping to get these done before my next blocks come....that's my goal.

This table topper is all ready for stitching.... I just love this!
This is a custom order.  My customer and I worked together to come up with this design.
I love it when two minds work together so well!

Here's the fabric for my next project.  All starched just hanging to dry.
Yes I do starch my fabric before cutting into it.  I think it's easier to cut the fabric more accurately  when it is starched.

I bought this kit along with the pattern in Chicago when I went to the Quilt Market. So cute and I get to do a little embroidery on this one.

I finished these pillows last night.  These are going to be for sale at my craft fairs. They look so great on the chair I just might have to make one for myself :-)

I'm off to do some stitching.

Enjoy your weekend,
Leanne

Finished....

Finished this quilt wall hanging and in time for summer.
It's hard to see but I finished off the quilt with a blue print binding.

Now back to working on some wool appliqué...

and I think I'll finish another quilt hanging that I made for fall.
This has wool applique vine and leaves in the borders.

I am so happy I learned how to machine quilt.  I'm loving all the mini quilts that are so popular now. I have my eye on some new ones I would like to make or try to make.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

I've Been Busy....

I've been working on these runners.
I love how they turned out so much that I had to share some pictures with you.
I just love how perfect it looks on my dining room table but...

It's not my runner.

I made both of these for a very sweet customer :-). The long runner was made to match a shorter one.  I think I did a pretty good job matching the colors and style of stitching.

The runners were made using a pattern by Ginger Sanchez.  This runner I made is longer than the pattern so I just stretched the pattern a little bit and added more pears and leaves.  I followed the colors used in the smaller runner. The runner looks so different then the pattern when using a light background and red pears.

I made this bird runner to go in the same room.
This is my own design and I used the same wools as the long runner.

I so want to make this with a blue bird and red accents for an Americana look.
Maybe make the bird into a cardinal standing on a holly branch...so many ideas so little time.

I think I'll spend the evening working on some hexies.  I'm not sure what I'm making but I'll just keep adding on.

Remember this quilt?
I bought the kit at the quilt show, its a Primitive Gatherings pattern.

I was working on it last night but I couldn't finish the wool appliqué because I need to get some gold valdani thread. Only 6 leaves away from preparing this puppy to quilt.

Take care,
Leanne

Happy Fall!

First day of school and it's time for some fall decorating!

I can't believe how long it's been since I posted here. My summer was filled with family visiting, vacations, Summerfest, crafting and of course August our birth month.  Everyone in our family has a birthday in August so were eating cake all month long.... Yum!

I love decorating for fall it starts my favorite time of the year, first fall and then Christmas.

Craft fairs start the middle of this month and I've been crafting like crazy.  Stitching and painting, painting and stitching. Check my Facebook page for some pictures of things that I've been working on.

Just Sharing....

Some Photos of Finished Projects.

I've been working on some cross stitch and punchneedle for my fall fairs.

The stitching was done in February but I just wasn't sure how to finish them off.
 So searched my favorite site....
Pintrest
(you can follow me just click here)
for Inspiration and Ideas.
Well did that get my mind going.

It was a lot of fun searching for unusual frames and trimming and old buttons.
I painted the frames black and aged them. The backgrounds are wool some hand dyed wools.

See I'm trying to get ready for my fairs.
I feel like I'm running behind.
You can check out my facebook page for more pictures of
what I've been working on.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

Summer Sew Along...

At the beginning of summer I signed up to participate in a sew along.  I have never done anything like this before but it sounded fun and it involved Wool so I couldn't resist.
Lynda of Primitive Pieces by Lynda is the hostess.
She used one of her patterns...too cute.
I have a few of her patterns...love them!
Click here to visit her blog.

This is how the piece looked when I got it in the mail.
So far 5 or 6 people worked on it.

This is how it looks after I added my pennies.

 I'm loving this table topper.

I just sent it off to the next stitcher.
Then one more person and Lynda will finish it.
After it's done one of the gals that worked on the piece will win the table topper.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my name is the one chosen.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

Just Stitching Away....

I thought I would show you some of the things I've finished this summer.
This bird, berries and flowers runner is my favorite!
I liked how it looked on my table so much I had to make one for myself.

I'm getting ready for fall....my favorite season!

I just love all the hand dyed wools in this runner.

Love, Love, Love sunflowers!

More pumpkins.

I hope you all are having a good summer so far.

Enjoy your day,

Snow and Sew...

I'm ready for spring but Mother Nature says "let it snow!"

I think we got about 9-10 inches and it's still snowing.

I just got in from snow blowing and it is so beautiful that I thought I would share some pictures.

I really wish our school had a snow day but no my son had to go to school.
The snow is real packy (is that a word? you know what I mean)perfect for making snowmen.
I love how the snow is sticking to the trees.

This is the back yard and patio.

Just a few pictures to show you what I've been working on.
All of these pieces are in various stages of being done.

I'm still working on winter and fall penny rugs and runners.
Just getting ready for the fairs I do starting in September.

I love sunflowers.  I love doing different backgrounds.
Look how different these sunflowers look in brown or black.

More sunflowers the pattern is from Primitive Gatherings.
The pumpkins are my own design.  I like mixing different orange pumpkins with white pumpkins.

I love the colorful scarves on the snowmen. I still need to do some stitching, add buttons, eyes and snowflakes.
Snowmen is my own design and the mitten pattern is Primitive Gatherings.

 I love stars too!
I like using all my primitive colored wools to make these.

These penny rugs are my best seller at fairs.

These penny rugs are so much fun to make!
I love mixing all the different colors of wool together.

I like how the black stitching makes all the colors pop.
Today I will be spending the day shoveling and stitching.
Enjoy your day,
Leanne

I Just Can't Get Enough....

Wool Applique!

I have been stitching like crazy. I do all hand stitching.
 Before I finish one piece
I have the next one all cut out and ready to go.
 I have so many ideas
 and so little time.
Now I can't use all of these myself and I've given so many away as gifts.
That I started selling on ebay and at craft fairs.
I had to show you this little raggedy...her face makes me laugh every time I look at her.
 Yes, I started Christmas already.
I can't wait for Christmas. I just love entertaining for the Holidays.
I started watching the Hallmark Channel's Holiday movies...yes they are showing Christmas movies already....I love it!
I can picture it now... stitching on a Santa, watching a Christmas movie, sipping on some warm apple cider on this cold evening. Now I just have to convince my family to watch Christmas movies in November :)

I just listed all these goodies on ebay.  If you're interested in seeing all my listings Click here to see them.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne
